McLean, VA) is a fully equipped
gemological laboratory serving the Northern VA, MD and DC
Metro area since 1988. AJA offers
comprehensive diamond jewelry and gem appraisal reports for insurance purposes and estate
settlement to verification
reports on diamond and gemstone jewelry purchased via the Internet.
An Independent jewelry appraiser will
perform all diamond, jewelry, and gem appraisal
services provided by AJA: Jeff Allinson is a Graduate Gemologist (GIA), Senior Member
National
Association of Jewelry Appraisers, and Member, GIA Alumni
Association.

Gemstones will be identified, graded, measured, and their weights calculated by volumetric formula.
•
The metal content of each item will be tested and determined.
•
All diamonds will be color and clarity graded.
•
Diamonds over 1.00 will be issued a diamond certificate with color, clarity and proportion grading listed. Internal characteristics (inclusions) will be diagramed
and accompanied by a key to symbols.
•
Colored gemstone certificates will be issued when appropriate.
•
Photomicrographs (photos through the microscope) are available if needed for insurance claims, etc.
•
Your appraisal will explain the grading systems used.
•
Explanation of the definition of value will be included, along with the instructions for the appropriate use of the appraisal document.
